Motor Vehicles - Excise Tax Information

MOTOR VEHICLES NO LONGER TAXED - Effective in Tax Year 2022

In 2017, the General Assembly passed House Bill 5157, Article 11 which calls for the phase-out of the motor vehicle (excise) tax. This tax was to be completely eliminated in 2023, however, the General Assembly accelerated this phase out by one year, therefore you will no longer receive a Tiverton RI motor vehicle tax bill. Please note that any outstanding tax is still obligated.
